What was started by Edsell and Mayme Sutton in 1946 is still growing. Originally named Sutton Roofing & Siding, they specialized in those two areas at the time. There are still several houses around the area that Sutton’s installed siding on way back in the day. Sutton’s is still family owned and operated.
In the late 1970’s, Douglas Sutton moved back to Springfield and took over the family business for his parents. He changed the name to incorporate interior remodeling projects. The new name was Sutton Siding & Remodeling, Inc. A marketing partner of Doug’s was responsible for one of the most successful marketing campaigns in Springfield. “You call us, we don’t call you” was a benefit. That is because some key competitors at the time were dialing for dollars every evening and on weekends. The slogan worked and separated Sutton’s from the vultures lurking on the phone. People still refer to that slogan today.
In fact, “Sutton Siding” is what most people refer to us as or know us by. We will take it!
Fast forward to 1995 and Douglas Sutton Jr, along with his brother Michael Sutton, took over the family business. Eventually the duo decided to change the name to simply “Sutton’s.” The pair added the property restoration division recognizing a need in the marketplace to help customers after a fire or storm damage. Together, the brothers still operate the business in partnership, and work in the business daily.
Today, the fourth generations of Sutton’s have entered the family business. Trip Sutton (Douglas Sutton III) works in the remodeling division. His cousin, Draike Sutton works with the production team.
